On 4th July 2018 Addiewell welcomed 15 employers and employment agencies into the establishment for our first ever jobs fair.
Taking place in our gym, employers such as McTaggart Construction, Timpsons, Tennents Academy and more spoke highly of everyone involved. We had a great turn out from residents with CVs and information to hand, a number of whom are approaching liberation and embraced the opportunity to prepare for release by securing an interview or employment opportunity.
Head of Purposeful Activity, Dione Weir said: "I have never seen such happy employers or ready to impress residents and it's down to the hard work of everyone involved. A huge congratulations to Louise Currie, who with Robert Taylor, and lots of help from their colleagues, seamlessly delivered our first ever jobs fair. This event provides a huge opportunity to further prepare residents for release by helping them secure employment and gain confidence in speaking to employers. We are incredibly grateful to the growing number of employers who recognise that there is a hidden talent pool amongst ex-residents and are happy to employ them and give them an opportunity to prove that they can become a valuable asset."
