Sodexo earns highest marks in SAM’s “Sustainability Yearbook” for twelfth straight year
Sodexo reinforces its position as one of the most sustainable companies in the world by earning Gold Class distinction in SAM’s “Sustainability Yearbook 2019”. For the twelfth consecutive year, Sodexo was ranked as the top-scoring company in its industry for its excellent sustainability performance, scoring 75% compared to an industry average of 16%.
We are excited to announce we are finalists in the 2018 Banksia Sustainability Awards in 2 categories, the Large Business and Indigenous category. The Banksia awards recognise innovation and leadership through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals which aim to unite the world’s businesses, governments and citizens to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and protect the planet.
We have been recognised in Goodcompany’s Top 30 Workplaces to Give Back in Australia. The Best Workplaces to Give Back list acknowledges organisations that empower their people to have a positive social impact.
Sodexo was recognised alongside atWork Australia and South Metropolitan TAFE for the National Employment Services Award (NESA) for ‘Excellence in Collaboration’ in August 2018.
In August, we were awarded the ‘Workforce Innovation’ Award for our ‘Gamified Microlearning’ initiative at AMMAs 2018 Centenary Celebration Annual Gala Dinner. Our ‘Gamified Microlearning’ initiative was implemented to our Mental Health Awareness training across Australia.
In 2018, for the 14th straight year, Sodexo was named industry leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) provide a global ranking of the companies most advanced in the area of sustainable development. They are jointly compiled by the S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM.)
Sodexo has been successful in our recertification and transition of the following ISO Standards:
- ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
- ISO 14001:2004 to ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems
- OHSAS 18001:2007 to ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Recertification of AS/NZS 4801:2001 Australian/New Zealand Standard - Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
Sodexo is one of the first companies to be certified against the new ISO 45001. These accreditations of HSEQ Management System enables us to demonstrate our capability and bolster our position in the market as an industry leader.
Sodexo won Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence for Victoria & Tasmania.
In 2017, for the 13th straight year, Sodexo has been named the top-rated company in its sector on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
Sodexo is a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index following the June 2017 review. The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance practices.
Sodexo has ranked #6 on DiversityInc’s 2017 ‘Top 50 Companies for Diversity’ list.
Sodexo Australia has been awarded NESA’s Champion Employer of the Year award for 2016. Sodexo won this award for its commitment to helping Indigenous Australians find meaningful employment. In 2014, Sodexo was the first organisation in its sector nationally to commit, deliver and employ VTEC Certificate II Hospitality trainees. Sodexo’s second VTEC hospitality program was completed in 2015, and to date, the organisation has employed 27 Indigenous job seekers
2016 INDIGENOUS EMPLOYER AWARD : Sodexo was recently awarded the 2016 Employer Award Indigenous Employer by atWork Australia. The Indigenous Employer award highlights the significant contribution Sodexo has made in providing employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians through the Australian Government's VTEC program.
