Angie Seal started her Sodexo career an amazing 39 years ago when she joined as a food service assistant. Angie went on to work in Sodexo's Healthcare business before joining Schools & Universities where she works today as a business support manager.
In April 2020 as the country went into lockdown due to Covid-19 Angie returned to Healthcare on secondment to support as a general manager at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Angie last worked in Sodexo's Healthcare business 18 years ago and has noticed how much has moved forward. She said: “The business is much more diverse, proactive and focused than it was when I worked in it 18 years ago. It’s good to see the professionalism and a great team spirit on site at the hospital and at divisional level especially during this current crisis. Having worked so long for Sodexo I would not have expected anything less.”
Throughout her journey at Sodexo, Angie has had great mentors she said: “I consider Caroline Kucharski, client relations executive and Michelle Houghton, account manager as my key mentors. Caroline was my first account manager 38 years ago who recognised that I needed to be kept busy to ‘keep me out of mischief’ and has supported me throughout my career within Sodexo.
"I have worked directly with Michelle for the past eight years within Sodexo's Independent schools business and she continues to ‘keep me out of mischief’, we are a great team and work very well together managing a very busy district in the North of England.
"Both Caroline and Michelle have supported and encouraged me to achieve whatever I wish. I’ve have attended and managed a vast amount of training courses over the years, including senior management development and leadership along with all of the mandatory and legal training requirements. I enjoy training and encourage others to attend as many training sessions as possible to help them personally develop and help the business grow.”
The one piece of advice Angie has for people thinking about working within Healthcare is: “Just go for it. You can develop and use your initiative within an organisation that is supportive and progressive in every aspect of business.”
Angie describes her experience in Healthcare as: Refreshing, refocused and enjoyable.
