Sodexo has supported SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for many years in the work they do to support Armed Forces personnel, and their families. One of the ways we do that is through supporting SSAFA's mentoring scheme, which helps those who are transitioning from the Armed Forces to civilian life.
SSAFA's mentoring scheme was launched as a trial in 2018 to support the transition of individuals returning who were in some way wounded, injured or sick and, because of this, had been discharged from military service. In 2020 the programme was expanded to include other service leavers and rolled out nationwide, at which time colleagues in our Government & Agencies business signed up to be mentors.
In this short video, Lieutenant General Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive of SSAFA, and Rachel Evans, HR Director for Sodexo's Government & Agencies business, explain the benefits of the scheme for the mentees and the mentors.
You can find out more from Rachel about her experience of the mentoring scheme, here.
Sodexo has supported the UK's Armed Forces for over 30 years, and through its Stop Hunger Foundation, has been a proactive partner to SSAFA for the last 15 years, donating money to alleviate hunger amongst veterans and their families.
