Powering Performance and Improving Sustainability
We know that we have to act now to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment. It’s why we have set ourselves ambitious targets to reduce our carbon emissions by 34% by 2025, against a baseline of 2017. It’s also why we pride ourselves on being able to support our clients with their own sustainability goals.
What is Energy Management?
Energy management is the process of monitoring, controlling and conserving energy within a building or organization, resulting in reduced costs, lowered carbon emissions and a healthier workplace. By offering a complete energy management service, we can help you improve your energy efficiency, reduce our environmental impact and lower the cost of doing business.
How can we help?
To provide the right foundations for effective energy management, we design our solutions around five core pillars – which represent key areas where we can help our clients improve their energy performance:
- Energy and sustainability strategy – proactively working with clients to understand their strategy and translate into effective implementation.
- Energy and sustainability compliance – helping clients to identify and then navigate any required legislation to ensure compliance.
- Energy procurement – provision of cost-effective procurement of utilities, managing risk and surety of cost control.
- Performance monitoring and reporting – enabling a data-driven approach to understand energy consumption, profiling and reporting to assist in areas such as accurate forecasting.
- Technologies driving efficiencies – exploration and implementation of innovative technologies to reduce energy consumption in an effective and sustainable manner.

Delivering savings through LED lighting
Lighting represents around 20% of a building's electricity consumption. More efficient lighting is a simple and effective way to reduce energy use. LED lighting can deliver electricity savings of up to 80% against other less efficient lighting, while also having a longer lifecycle. We identified an effective LED lighting replacement programme at Tillery Valley Foods' large food production site in Wales, which delivered:
- • Electricity savings in year one alone of over £71k
- • Electricity savings over five years of around £356k
- • Payback period of 1.1 years - the investment made will be paid for in savings in just over a year
Positive impact
Reducing carbon emissions
A stable climate is indispensable to quality of life. Sodexo is in a strong position to contribute to this global challenge through our core services. Actions we are taking include food waste prevention, plant-based meal options, energy management services and responsible sourcing.
Social Impact Pledge
Our social impact pledge outlines our key commitments that we will focus on over the coming year; this stems from our three year Social Value Strategy. Social value underpins our strategic business ambitions whilst focussing on four impact pathways - our People, our Planet, our Places and Partners.
