They chose Sodexo as they had already been working with us for more than a decade, so they knew firsthand about Sodexo’s proactive approach and ability to implement a perfectly tailored solution quickly and efficiently.
Shell in Qatar (PDF, 494 Kb)
One of Shell’s most extensive endeavors, the Pearl GTL (gas to liquids) Project in Qatar was contracted through JK – a joint venture between JGC and KBR – and in collaboration with Qatar Petroleum. When completed, Pearl GTL will be the largest GTL plant on the planet. But Shell had a particular need: 3,500 new workers had to be housed, and Shell’s main accommodation camp was already full. What’s more, this wasn’t just any location. The activity in Ras Laffan Industrial City is very intense and you can’t just go shopping around for new facilities in such a desert environment. Shell would settle for nothing less than an ultra-reactive partner like Sodexo able to mobilize a new camp efficiently, while delivering the highest-quality operation and maintenance services possible.
SonaHess in Algeria (PDF, 640 Kb)
Waste management is always a challenge. But for SonaHess’ oil producing operations in Gassi El Agreb (GEA) region in the Sahara desert, the challenge was vast. Sodexo teams set about developing an on-site waste-management program that would boost SonaHess’ efficiency and further enhance Quality of Daily Life at their sites. After a successful test run in early 2009, SonaHess contracted with Sodexo to enhance waste management at GEA.

When Woodside and FWW first set out to create a village of 2,000 construction workers in Western Australia in 2007, they wanted to make it an appealing site to attract quality workers. So they knew they’d need an experienced partner who could deliver high-end On-site Service Solutions but also who would help them identify smarter new ways to minimize their environmental impact and bring tangible benefits to the local communities.

Xstrata, a major global diversified mining group, recently began exploration of the Las Bambas copper mine, at an altitude of 4,000 meters in Peru. As with any large-scale venture, the project was sure to have an impact on the local community. So, before even setting foot on the site, Xstrata was determined to go in with a clear and solid plan to implement initiatives that would bring genuine value to the people most affected. But to accomplish this, Xstrata needed a remote-site partner specializing in sustainable action – one that could deliver tangible long-term benefits to the local community and maintain positive relations with the authorities there. Sodexo, with its active Foundation for Sustainable Development in Peru, proved to be the ideal candidate.
