Tour de France 2016

25 years redefining teamwork on the move

For the 25th year in a row, Sodexo teams ensure and coordinate the considerable logistics involved in delivering Quality of Life Services on the move during the 3 weeks of the Tour de France 2016. As Sodexo teams prove annually, the Tour is not just a chance to demonstrate organizational excellence in difficult circumstances, it is also a thrilling teamworking experience that is not soon forgotten.

Our hospitality services on the road

Running from July 2 to 24, this year’s Tour de France covers a total distance of 3,535 km over 21 stages. To ensure hospitality services all over this road, our teams organize a real caravan: every day 6 trucks and 8 refrigerated vans join the Tour to supply the catering areas with fresh products. That is what it takes for us to serve more than 3,000 daily meals to organizers, support staff, motorcyclists, drivers and VIP guests.

Four teams sharing a common goal

To handle these difficult conditions, our teams start laying the groundwork in December: booking vehicles, recruiting employees, ordering uniforms and more. Menus are tasted and ordered by mid-May. By June, the 60 team members are raring to go. Divided into 4 teams, our drivers, logistics specialists, cooks, hostesses and other professionals share the same objective throughout the 21 days of the Tour: to ensure the welfare and satisfaction of the guests.

Celebration at the Champs-Elysées

After 3 weeks of cycling, the Tour participants will enjoy an outstanding celebration at the Champs Elysées avenue, in Paris. More than 11,000 people are expected to enjoy Sodexo’s services at the finish line. All over various reception areas, 2,000 guests will also taste a refined menu from Lenôtre, Sodexo’s haute cuisine brand.
