Sodexo has launched Starting Fresh, a campaign to encourage and provide guidance to businesses on proactively hiring ex-offenders. Here, Claire shares her experience of undertaking formal qualifications while in prison which has led to a new career after release.

While serving a sentence in HMP Peterborough, Claire used the time to undertake a Level 2 NVQ in food production and catering.

Through this, she landed a placement at local hotel while on release on temporary license, and impressed them so much that she was offered a permanent job with them upon her release.

Here, she shares her story and explains how the training she received while serving her sentence led to a whole new career, and a fresh start, after prison.
