WWF, a long-term partner
We have partnered with the WWF since 2010, working toward a 34% reduction in our carbon emissions by 2025 (compared to a 2017 baseline). Together, we have identified four workstreams contributing to achieve the target: Increase the share of “low-carbon” menus, source responsibly, reduce food waste and employee engagement.
Our Other Collaborations
A “farm to fork” approach
Fighting food waste requires a huge effort from all participants in the food chain to make a decisive positive impact. Sodexo is proud to join forces and share expertise with other companies in the International Food Waste Coalition (IFWC) to fight food waste with a collaborative “farm to fork” approach.
GCAW, the first industrial consortium for animal welfare
We are a founding member of the Global Coalition for Animal Welfare (GCAW), the world’s first food industry-led initiative aimed at advancing animal welfare standards throughout the supply chain and collectively eliminating systemic barriers to improve breeding, transportation, and slaughter conditions.
Champions 12.3, sharing expertise to make a collective impact
Champions 12.3 is a coalition of executives dedicated to working towards achieving United Nations SDG Target 12.3: to halve global food waste between 2015 and 2030. Sodexo’s CEO, Denis Machuel is furthering our company goal of taking strong, transparent action to support the sustainable use of natural resources, waste reduction, and food waste diversion.
The 10x20x30 initiative unites leading food companies
Sodexo and nine other world leaders in the food industry founded the 10x20x30 initiative, designed as a step towards the United Nations' SDG Target 12.3. With the goal of efficient collective waste reduction, these partners are working with 20 of their priority suppliers to implement shared waste measurement processes throughout the value chain.
B4IG
In recognition of record-high levels of inequality, Sodexo has joined the G7 coalition Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG). The coalition is made up of 34 leading international companies that have committed to stepping up business action to advance human rights throughout their value chains, building inclusive workplaces, and improving inclusion in their internal and external business ecosystems.
Sodexo supports research on sustainable diets
We are dedicated to inspiring our customers to make more eco-friendly food choices. In 2016, the company joined the Better Buying Lab, a division of the World Resources Institute (WRI) whose purpose is to study behavior change strategies. Sodexo supports these research projects and uses the results to offer solutions that encourage the adoption of sustainable eating habits.
