Sodexo Healthcare is a leading provider of services to the NHS and private healthcare organisations in England. We provide quality of life services that improve patient and staff experience, raise standards and deliver financial benefits to our clients.

We help to improve the patient experience

We help to improve the patient environment (including patient dining, cleaning/housekeeping, retail services), provide clinical support (equipment sterilisation) and manage technical estates teams (estates management, asset management, land maintenance and energy management).

Your engagement matters to us

We care about employee engagement within Sodexo Healthcare. A great example of this is Hereford County Hospital which achieved the highest employee engagement score in the business's 2014 survey – at a staggering 85%. The hospital has got something special and that’s reflected both in its standing in the community and the attitude of Sodexo’s engaged team.

CARES

Delivering the difference in healthcare

CARES is aimed at improving the patient experience by valuing and respecting patients and ensuring their welfare is integral to every decision and action we take.

CARES takes the core principles of caring in our everyday actions and turns them into recognisable tools and programmes, which is used to train and develop each and every member of our staff in the practice of going above and beyond. This is because we recognise that when our people make our clients and the people they serve feel at ease and well provided for then everybody’s benefits.

Many small actions make one big difference…

Simple acts of kindness can make a huge difference to a patient, their visitors or a colleague.

As an example here are some compliments from our clients and patients at Queen’s and King George’s hospital:

“Our Security team has been recognised for their recent efforts in helping to keep our sites safe. They are sometimes injured in the course of their work. We would to thank them as they do an incredible job helping protecting our staff, patients and buildings.”

“Today I met one of the most pleasant, helpful porters; I just had to bring it to your attention.”

“Mina on the Adult Day Care ward at King George’s Hospital is a credit to your company!  I have never met someone who takes so much pride in her work. What a lovely lady too!”

“The cleaners and food Staff were brilliant and did a great job.”

SHARRON ELLIS, DEPUTY MANAGER

A story of personal growth

If you’re looking for inspiration to rise through the ranks with Sodexo, then look no further than North Devon District Hospital’s Sharron Ellis. After beginning her career at the hospital as a chef 30 years ago, she has risen to her current position of deputy manager.

"Career progression is built into Sodexo’s culture," says Sharron. "I’ve been through lots of training courses, including a CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice and a foundation degree in business. I have also been given the chance to work abroad, and spent six weeks in Australia catering at the 2000 Olympics, which was the experience of a lifetime."

As Sharron has moved up the ladder, she’s gained a wide knowledge of Sodexo’s service offer and expanded her skill set from catering to become a confident manager of cleaning, security, housekeeping, portering teams and more.

Her experience and long history at the hospital means she knows the team well, and they’re really happy to see her rise through the ranks. "I’m excited about the future and happy to have the opportunity to make a real contribution into the successful running of the contract here for many more years."
