Sodexo follows the implementation of national plan to reduce the salt intake on a nationwide basis with objectives by 2020. Since 2011, the Sodexo “Less Salt” program provides and promotes food prepared with less salt and educates consumers about salt use and the potential health risks.

Since early 2011, Sodexo in France communicates on "Local Fresh Fruits and Vegetables" to promote seasonal fresh products available in each French region according to the soils and climate.

In March 2011, Sodexo celebrated the “Nutrition Month” by staging events at sites to promote nutrition, health and well-being and engage clients, consumers and employees. 25 dietitians were involved in site animations and informed 100,000 consumers.

In December 2011, Sodexo started to provide schools across the country with grow-your-own kitchen gardens. With 50 schools gardens today provided, the project will expand to benefit more than 200 schools within the next months.

To boost local economy, Sodexo subcontracts services to local small businesses. Sodexo supports them in the launch phase so that they can own and run the business independently. This initiative has provided jobs and revenues to more than 40 families so far.
