Dakar Rally

For the 10th consecutive year, Sodexo demonstrates its Quality of Life Services leadership as the official food supplier for the Dakar Rally, January 6th – 20th, 2018. Serving over 2,000 people in 14 days, Sodexo teams proudly take on another major logistics, service and environmental challenge.

Ensuring 24-hour service under extreme conditions

Sodexo Dakar teams

The 40th edition of the Dakar posed one of the most complex logistic tests to date, since it covers nearly 9,000 km of extreme tracks through Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Sodexo is deploying a team of 64 employees specially trained for adverse conditions. The fleet of kitchen trucks are constantly on the move ahead of the race. At each campsite, the Sodexo team quickly set up to deliver the first-rate quality of life services upon which the organizer, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), depends.

That means 26,000 breakfasts, 15,000 lunch packs and 25,000 dinners, all served with a smile in adverse conditions. Although the race covers 3 countries, the food is prepared centrally in Argentina and transported to relevant points on the route. High standards of innocuity and quality are followed to ensure the food maintained its attributes. This allowed us to reduce the organic wastes that occur in the process while guaranteeing a balanced and healthy nutrition to drivers and their teams.

What we do for the Dakar Rally

Fresh and clean clothes in the middle of the desert

Copy of Biocleaning (240x120)

Imagine how dusty your clothes can be at the end of a day of racing through the desert. For the second time on a Dakar Rally, Sodexo took care of the pilots and journalists’ clothing, delivering them fresh and clean in less than 3 hours.
