A selection of large events
Dakar Rally
In almost 30 years, the Dakar Rally has attracted drivers of cars, bikes, quads and trucks to a challenging off-road race. As the official Rally service provider since 2009, Sodexo deploys a team specially trained for adverse conditions, who proudly take on major logistics, service and environmental challenges. In 2017, 20,000 breakfasts, 12,000 lunch packs and 22,000 dinners were served to 2,500 people.
Roland-Garros
During the 3 weeks of competition, we prepare in average 60 different menus each day in order to serve 9500 daily meals. Two restaurants are exclusively dedicated to the players and serve about 800 champions, as well as their coaches and families
Tour de France
The 3-week Tour de France bicycle race, one of Europe’s most famous athletic events, takes place every summer. To ensure hospitality services all over this road, our teams organize a real caravan: every day several trucks and refrigerated vans join the Tour to supply the catering areas with fresh products. That is what it takes for us to serve more than 3,000 daily meals to organizers, support staff, motorcyclists, drivers and VIP guests.
Royal Ascot
The 5-day Royal Ascot horse races are a national institution and major social event in the UK held every year in June, attended by Her Majesty the Queen, the racing community and the public. Sodexo ensures hospitality package promotion and sales, logistics and premium foodservices for 300,000 visitors under the largest catering contract in Europe.
Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup is the third largest international sports event. Held every four years, the Cup matches attract 2 million spectators and are broadcast to more than 4 billion people. A Sodexo-Mike Burton Group joint venture has been managing and delivering travel & hospitality package sales and foodservices for the event since 2004.
Euro 2012 and National Stadium in Warsaw
For the Euro 2012, Sodexo managed the 30 kiosks, 65 VIP lodges and 2 Club areas for up to 2,500 guests during the opening match and four others taking place in Warsaw. Sodexo has also been entrusted with a 10-year food services contract at the National Stadium in Warsaw of 55,000 seats where large sports and cultural events as well as seminars and PR events can be organized.
Olympic and Paralympic Games
The Olympic and Paralympic Games, the world’s top athletic event, draws some 500,000 spectators every four years to see champions from 200 countries compete in 35 sports. Sodexo has provided services at the Games in Calgary (1988), Barcelona and Albertville (1992), Lillehammer (1994), Sydney (2000), and Vancouver (2010).
Chelsea Flower Show
The Chelsea Flower Show is the most celebrated gardening event in the United Kingdom. The five-day show, sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society, receives 35,000 visitors a day on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London’s Chelsea district, where Sodexo has overseen hospitality, catering and a gala dinner for over 25 years.
World Youth Day
World Youth Day brings together hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world every two years for a week of religious and cultural activities under the sponsorship of the Vatican. Sodexo staff runs mobile kitchens and supervises and coordinates thousands of volunteers serving quality meals to pilgrims in a safe environment.
