Tonight, Thursday 10 March, during our Supporters Evening, we announced the laureates of the 2022 Stop Hunger Awards. The Awards are presented each year to outstanding individuals who play a key role in women's empowerment projects. The winners lead projects in 4 continents, from Nepal, Haiti, Congo and France.

Volunteers play an important role in the work we do at Stop Hunger. That’s why each year we pay homage to colleagues from our founding partner, Sodexo, who are setting an example of what can be achieved through volunteering actions.

World hunger continues to rise, affecting more than 800 million people and 161 million more than in 2019. Why? The pandemic and its economic consequences have worsened the situation, due primarily to conflicts and the climate crisis.

As the annual mobilization of millions of Stop Hunger volunteers around the world, the 2021 edition of our Servathon is unprecedented. Despite health constraints, US$ 249,000 was collected in 32 countries, i.e. 21% more than in 2019. Across the world, our Servathon has made it possible to locally support more than 218,000 beneficiaries.

Catering, bakery, pastry ... all over the world, these dynamic food businesses represent millions of workers, including women in precariousness. Training allows them to professionalize, have a job, be independent and regain a decent life.

In 2021, to bring its partners together and mobilize its donors, STOP HUNGER is reinventing itself thanks to a new approach: an amazing 100% virtual event, with on-set debates and exclusive stories shot in Madagascar, Jordan, Haiti and Bolivia to meet inspiring women, committed to their communities.

Stop Hunger supports Ruramiso, WIA54 award winner in 2020. Native to Zimbabwe, this 35-year-old young woman is the example of a new generation of entrepreneurs who aim to modernize traditional family farming: making it productive and profitable – improving local income, and increasing its local and international business opportunities, to feed an ever-growing population.
